Trip to Emirates Palace Art
Exhibition
Visiting The Emirates Palace and going to meet
with the artist was an interesting and exciting
experience. It helped inspire my work and to
think about the important strategies we were
shown by him such as working fast and really
loose.
It made me notice things which I had never paid
attention to such as the fact that I find it
almost impossible to start a painting if I have
not drawn out all the outlines neatly and
clearly. There is a much more simple way of
doing your work and using improvisation and not
being scared to try new things and using
different surfaces which you would not normally
use to paint on.
I really enjoyed the trip because the atmosphere
was inspiring and thoughtful. When we went down
to paint on the beach, it was not what I
expected because I found that I actually really
enjoyed this. In the beginning it sounded a bit
childish when I heard that we were going to be
doing finger-painting on pieces of cardboard. It
was actually a lot easier to mix the colours and
spread them out all over the page to create a
pattern or mixture of some kind.
I would like to keep this in mind next time I
draw out my outlines for a painting.
