I was excited when I heard we
were going to go on a workshop with a
professional artist. I was especially interested
as to see how the work with the cardboards would
progress. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to paint
on them but I did enjoyed learning about
installation and painting on the beach – we
ended up using the cardboard as the border for
all our finger-painted abstract works put
together.
It was fascinating to see all our works together
like that, it reminded me of the work we had
seen in the exhibition earlier on. I found the
abstract paintings really expressive and free in
terms of technique although it was nothing I was
used to, I really found it appealing. The
exhibition itself has taught me to appreciate
abstract art for its expressive and simplistic
element. I also enjoyed Sana’s speech about her
work and what she has to say about abstract art,
which was that the only way you could get to a
good end result is if you’re not afraid to
express yourself and cover up the plain canvas.
