Our Trip to Emirates Palace
Art Exhibition
We visited an art exhibition called ‘Colour
Dialogue’ in the foyer of Emirates Palace Hotel.
The exhibition showed art work from a variety of
artists from a gallery in Jordan. We met two of
the artists whose work was exhibited.
In fact, Khaldoun, one of the artists we worked
with. He is the founder of the Al Balqa Gallery.
It was interesting to talk to both artists and
question them about their artwork.
Sana’s work was really interesting and the
colours and styles worked really well together.
I found Khaldoun’s work more difficult to
understand and less appealing. Some of it I
found quite bizarre.
However, working with him on the beach helped me
to understand his creative ideas and points of
view. Some of his vocabulary caused a bit of
confusion within the group, yet his
demonstrations made it easier to understand. We
got the opportunity to paint with the elements
all around us, sand, air, water. We also were
able to use our fingers and hands to create a
painting with a limited palette of two colours.
It was really enjoyable.
At the end, I enjoyed seeing all the different
outcomes and ideas. Our day ended on a high note
with a ride back to the palace on a golf buggy.
